We recently updated our brand directory, with 37 brands joining the approved ranks, and 37 brands no longer approved. It’s an informative process of reviewing each record against our criteria, re-researching each brand’s leadership composition, and amending our website directory to reflect any changes. Over 860 brands meet our criteria. When we started Femeconomy it was just over 700.
It is important to communicate and celebrate the positive progress that companies are making towards gender equality. There were also a few who unfortunately lost ground and slid backwards. Most changes resulted from Board composition changes and company acquisitions or divestments.
Here is our January 2021 Retail Gender Equality Progress Report to help you decide which brands to choose.
FEME
CONOMY APPROVED MEANS
Brands have at least 30% of women on the Board of Directors or are 50% female owned. The Femeconomy Badge shows you which brands meet this criteria and have our approval.

Gender Equality is a journey, which we recognise. We hope to see these brands back under the Femeconomy approved banner soon!
