A Little Surprise

Be Surprised by A Little Surprise

A Little Surprise’s mission is to showcase Australian Artisans via surprise gift boxes. Their customers are passionate about all things handmade, unique and of beautiful quality. A Little Surprise Owner and Femeconomy member, Karla Bradshaw has recently been announced as a nominee for the 2018 AusMumpreneur Awards. So we asked Karla to share with Femeconomy’s community what is unique about her brand.

I support female Australian Artisans and empower them to continue with their dreams.

I’ve always been a big advocate in supporting our own. I love surrounding myself in beautiful, handcrafted wares made by people I know. So, I decided to showcase my love of Australian female artists to those that were unaware, by creating A Little Surprise.

A Little Surprise is an online surprise gift village where you can purchase beautiful surprise gifts made by hand.

Every purchase from A Little Surprise generates meaningful income for the artisans and empowers them to continue to dream, create and inspire. Each artisan must use materials that are sustainable, eco-friendly and organic. Even our surprise pouches are linen, made in Victoria. The wool twine is from South Australia. The gum leaves and herbs are from my garden and all decorative paper and cards have been handmade in Tasmania using apple pulp.

Each gift is 100% Australian handcrafted, 100% hand-wrapped and 100% meaningful.

I wanted to showcase these talented Artisans to the unaware and to always bring an element of excitement and beauty to my customers. My customers end up becoming wonderful friends all via this little box of joy.

Subscription gifts

The perfect gift to say happy birthday, thinking of you, thank-you or just because. Surprise someone today with a one-off gift or choose a three month, six month or 12 month gift package. One off surprises will be mailed immediately, unless its requested to arrive by a certain date. Subscriptions are mailed within the first week of each month.

Wellness surprise gifts

Sometimes we need a little surprise to bring some cheer to our day, so we created our wellness surprise gifts. Our customers give these gifts for friends going through a relationship breakdown or friends or family who might be in hospital and they don’t want to give flowers. Other reasons might be to say you care about someone going through new Mum struggles, a job loss, or they might be grieving. Helping loved ones through loss of motivation is also a reason people choose our wellness gift surprises.

Occasion surprises

One of the occasion surprises that is nearest to my heart is our IVF and the two week wait. I went down the IVF path and thankfully for my husband and me, we were gifted with our little treasure. The dreaded two-week wait is the waiting period to see if IVF has worked. It’s exhausting and nerve-racking. I have brought together 14 little surprises to bring cheer and hope to those going down this journey. I have also included tips and suggestions to help at this time along with mentoring advice if required.

Other more traditional occasion surprises include the 12 Days of Christmas tailored to your age and gender, our adult Pass the Parcel, which is great fun on a hen’s night and our handmade crackers which are a great icebreaker and can be tailor made for weddings, Christmas parties and other events. Select from our range of beautiful papers, ribbons, subtle decorations and surprise artisan gifts.
